What does PK-DK want from the LAND Center network? How does the organisation as such want or see the elements of the permaculture ethics and the principles “gennemtrænge” the internal com & coop structure of the Danish LAND network?
What does each LAND Center think//want?
What is the motivation?
What is the “modstand”?
Base line “undersøgelse” – what is here and now status?
How many LAND Centers? Who are they?
How many are doing their recertification?
How many have a livelyhood and how many and who are working on their livelihood?
Which products and services does each LAND Center offer?
Who are that LAND Centers to come?

Which concrete tasks do we have to cooperate on? Maybe a definition og the word cooperation? Due to some definitions we are probably not actually cooperation, but just inspiring and helping each other.
How can the LAND network make use of not only the coordinator and the “vejledergruppe”, but also the LAND daughter group?
Well, I seem to be getting on with this again. We have a group of 3 now, myself and two members of the board of Permaculture Denmark (since they work on a sociocrasy basis the board is called “the mother group”. The mother groups has several daughter groups, and one of these is the LAND center group. This group will have the internal cooperation and communication on their agenda and I will be an external member of this group). So, it is a lot about organisation, actually.
For this design of the internal communication and cooperation structure of the Danish LAND network I have used Design Web as my design tool.
It was easy for me to realise that I – or any other one person – cannot design this structure, it must be done by the community of the LAND network itself. And since we only meet once a year I agreed with our coordinator to do a workshop at the second annual meeting of the network in December 2015.
DESIGNER AND CLIENT
So I see the LAND network and the coordinator of the LAND network as my client in this work. This document belongs to them.
So this design has the form of planning a workshop and holding it. Before planning I did a good deal of research.
Methology of research
I did not have a specific method for my research; I needed to find out: Who is my client? Who is this network? What is it´s story? How is the LAND network connected to the Danish Permaculture Association and the board? What is the English parallel like?
Results of research
My research showed me a LAND-network as I have tried to draw above.
The Danish LAND-network consists of:
Coordinator and daughter group of board(zone 0),
LAND centers, assessors and LAND-starters (zone 1),
LAND lovers/interested/volunteers (zone 2),
customers/members of Permaculture Denmark (zone 3)
and potentiel members (zone 4).
Central in the Danish LAND network is the coordinator, Cathrine Dolleris. She is also chair of board in the Danish Permaculture Association.
Cathrine has out of inspiration from England fostered the idea of a Danish LAND network, created a consent for this idea in the board and done the necessary funding for starting the network.
Close to the coordinator is the advisory board, consisting of 7 volunteers (of which 5 are LAND center owners/drivers) as well as the coordinator. The advisory board takes care of assesment visits to newcomers, writes the report and reforms the final approval of a new LAND center.
Also close to the coordinator is the actual board of the Danish Permaculture Association, which has organised itself according to sociocrasy principles. According to these principles the board is a socalled “mother group”, and sub groups dealing with various concrete tasks are referred to as “daughter groups”. One of these daughter groups is the LAND daughter group. To me it is unclear how decisions are made in the mother group, who actually decides and who takes responsibility for taken decisions – which means I would need further research if I wanted more clarity.
The drawing hopefully shows that the coordinator has contact with all 9 LAND centers. What the drawing does not show is that there are several LAND-starters and LAND-lovers.
I got 3 hours for the workshop at the annual meeting. The work shop is planned in the best time of the annual meeting, namely right before and after lunch on the Saturday of the weekend.
For my planning I use the Design Web, well I suppose i use the Design Web to get an overview of the whole thing – and then I plan.

The workshop went well.
Having time enough as well as keeping a stringent structure gave space for a humorous, relaxed and caring atmosphere among the participants. 6 of 9 Danish landcenters were present during the workshop and thus hopefully taking ownership of the decisions made.
After the workshop I see the network as below.
The LAND network has now it´s own vision and fields of working according to it´s own inner communication and cooperation structure. These 3 designed fields of working are shown as petals of a flower of some kind. All the LAND-centers as well as the coordinator and the advisory board send nutrition of different kinds to the daughter LAND group. The coordinator is now connected to the daughter group and also to the stem, which is the board of Permaculture Denmark, or as we call it in the sociocrasy language: the mother group. Permaculture Denmark is through it´s roots connected to Permaculture all over the world.

The center of the core of this plant is the VISION. Without a vision there is no need to cooperate and communicate about anything whatsoever, because it is the longing for fulfilling the vision that makes want to work together and accomplish something as a community.
Surrounding the core is the daughter group. The three petals (the IDEAS) of the plant are

Each individual center is connected (INTEGRATION) to the daughter group and the coordinator, sending information as nourishment and nutrition to the centre. Each individual centre is also connected to each of the other centers, but my drawing does not show this. In my imagination it is at the root level and I could not fit it into the model as I draw.
And then, there are all the LAND-startes and LAND-bubbles who are also connected to the coordinator and the daughter group, and I just do not have the overview of their names – again I would need to do more research. As I see this right now it is a task for holding MOMENTUM, and for tweaking and adjusting the design at the annual meeting i 2016.

June 26: Structure of Danish LAND Center network.
The owner is Permaculture Denmark. The board works as the steering group.
We have an advisory group, consisting of tutors
And we have accredited centres plus a few learners (i think 2 for the time being).
We have a coordinator, who is also chairman of the board in Permaculture Denmark. Funding for the first year has been done successfully but the next application has been turned down – so there is an ongoing need for funding so that the coordinator can keep herself free to actually do the work needed.

June 17: Conversation with Cathrine. I´ve tried to get contact to the individual centres by email,and 3 of them have responded positively, so I can begin to set up the VISION
Cat suggested maybe I should call the centres, each of them, that would take a long time…… Time always seems to be a limitibg factor and a challenge that one has to find ways how to meet.
I ended up as a member of the closed group on Facebook of the English LAND Centres, and I´ve taken contact to the English coordinator Alan Thornton, by email, in order to research how they have worked out their strategy of internal communication and cooperation.
In the conversation many subjects came up
- Target groups (all within “the green segment”: private villa and garden owners, young people, elderley people, child families, summerhouse guests, tourist segment, municapal sectors, geographically widespread)
- Forthcoming events/gathering once or twice a year with OPEN SPACE
- capacity building workshops
- Financing and fundraising for meetings and events person-to-person
- Sharing more and more, among other things educational materials
- How to succesfully reach the centers: easy and easy accessable information; questions like what would make you take contact to another LAND center? And what are your barriers for not doing it?
